The Educational Visits Advisory Service is provided by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. We provide specialist advice, guidance, training, information and support for educational visits and outdoor education.

We assist schools, children’s services settings and educational establishments to:

• • comply with their statutory duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974), the Management of Health and Safety Regulations (1999) and other relevant legislation;

• • address their Common Law Duty of Care to prevent foreseeable harm to pupils, teachers and others;

• • ensure national expectations, benchmarks and standards of good practice in safety, risk management and high quality activity provision are met; and

• • identify and provide high quality and cost-effective educational visits, outdoor education and learning outside the classroom experiences.
