The History Bus – Subsidised Coach Travel to English Heritage Sites

English Heritage are providing subsidised coach travel to their sites for school visits until 31 March 2014 in recognition that the cost of transport is a significant barrier for some off-site educational visits.

In addition, entry to English Heritage sites for school groups is free of charge.

Admission to our properties is free for schools, however,  we are now able to offer a travel bursary to help cover the costs of travel for your class.

The History Bus is a free school bus scheme that means from 7 May onwards, when visiting one of our properties on either a free self-led education visit or an expert-led Discovery Visit, we can provide financial assistance with the transport costs between your school and your chosen site.

The scheme will be granted on a first come first serve basis. There is no maximum amount of visits any one school can claim, but the minimum group size to qualify for the scheme is 10 pupils. Schools that meet the conditions of our education visits will now be able to claim a maximum of up to £4 per pupil to help cover your travel costs.
