Outdoor adventure park fined £7000 over teenager’s 20ft plunge

An outdoor adventure park in the Borders has been fined £7000 after a 13-year-old girl was seriously injured when safety equipment failed.

The teenager plunged 20ft to the ground from a climbing tower as she simulated the effect of a parachute jump in Roxburghshire in 2008.

She had been part of a group on an adventure weekend at Whithaugh Park, near Newcastleton, when the accident happened.
