Reminder for BMBC Maintained Schools & Settings: Coach Transport Provider Accreditation for Educational Visits

For BMBC maintained schools and other BMBC maintained settings, local authority policy and guidelines specify that coach transport providers contracted for educational visits should hold suitable external accreditation preferably via the ‘Contractors’ Health and Safety Assessment Scheme’ (CHAS), or they should be registered and approved for their work under the ‘Safety Schemes in Procurement’ (SSIP) scheme.

It is the responsibility of the school or the setting to ensure that suitable accreditation is in place and valid for the dates of the visit.

You can find more details regarding coach provider and contractor accreditation in the LA’s educational visits guidelines ‘Organising Visits & Journeys’, on the Evolve visits system on the Transport Provider input screens (click on the blue square “i” information button), and in the Corporate Health and Safety Policy.
