Date: Wednesday 30 May 2012
Cost: Free of charge
Venue: YHA Edale, Peak District
To extend further the opportunities available to you through the Youth Hostels Association, a familiarisation visit has been arranged to enable interested staff to visit YHA Edale in the Peak District.
This event will offer the opportunity to view the range of accommodation and activities available at YHA Edale and to find out more about what the YHA has to offer across its network.
A free-of-charge overnight stay at YHA Edale, including evening meal and breakfast, may be available the night before (29 May) for those who wish to spend more time at the venue. Contact Mike Sabin (see below) as early as possible to check availability.
As part of the range of measures we are developing with YHA to support outdoor learning, this event is being made available to Barnsley schools at no charge.
It will provide an opportunity to discuss the accommodation, venues and activities with hostel management and staff. This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about YHA, to look at one of their sites which is readily accessible from Barnsley as well as seeing (and trying) some of the activities that can be offered to school groups of all ages (and also staying in the accommodation they provide, if you wish to).
Information will also be available on residential visits and other initiatives which are being developed by the LA to support you in providing high quality outdoor learning experiences for your pupils and young people.
