Wild About Plants

Plantlife is a UK-wide wild plant conservation charity. They have produced some new resources called Flower Keys that have been developed as part of the Wild About Plants project www.wildaboutplants.org.uk.

The overall aim of the project is to increase people’s access and enjoyment of local natural spaces. Plantlife work extensively with primary schools and organisations which work with families.

As part of the project they have developed some simple cards which can be used in any park or open space. The cards all feature an ‘environmental play’ activity leading from a common wild plant e.g. a dandelion or daisy.

The activities are designed to create opportunities to discover and explore green spaces, promote adult-child interaction and are open ended and appropriate for children aged 3-7 accompanied by an adult. They can be viewed online at www.wildaboutplants.org.uk/family. Seasonal expeditions resources are also available to download from the same web page.

There are 200 packs of Flower Keys to give away for Free to organisations who work with families. Simply fill in the attached application form and return it to wildaboutplants@plantlife.org.uk . Alternatively, send the form by post to Wild About Plants, Plantlife, 14 Rollestone Street, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 1DX.
