Countryside Leader Award Course

Dates: Tuesday 12 & Wednesday 13 October 2010
Venue: Pindale Farm Campsite, Hope, Derbyshire

The BMBC Countryside Leader Scheme is a local award administered by the BMBC Directorate for Children’s Services. It is designed to provide an in-house endorsement and accessible training for leaders of walking groups in normal countryside from Barnsley LA schools, youth groups and those working with the Barnsley Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Panel.

This course provides an in-house assessment for potential group leaders wishing to gain the BMBC Countryside Leader Award. The course will enable leaders to demonstrate that they have the skills that are needed for countryside walking/camping in the outdoors as a group leader to ensure the safety and enjoyment of others.

BMBC employees or volunteers who are registered with the scheme, who meet the experience requirements specified in the scheme documentation and who wish to lead groups of young people on countryside walks and camping expeditions within the terrain remit of the scheme (e.g. D of E Award Bronze and Silver Award Expeditions).
