Thursday 14 October, 4.00pm – 6.00pm.
You may be aware of the range of special opportunities for residential visits provided for Barnsley schools by the Youth Hostels Association (YHA). These include: free membership of the YHA for all Barnsley schools; significant discounts at specified youth hostels at particular times of the year (up to 25% discount in some cases); access to the YHA’s Breaks 4 Kids Fund which provides funding for pupils from families which are in need of financial assistance. There is currently more than one million pounds in the fund which can provide for up to 50% of the cost of a residential visit to a youth hostel for pupils who qualify. The application process is very straightforward.
In addition to the above, there are free overnight planning visits available to group leaders for any residential visit to a youth hostel and a range of curriculum-linked and adventure activity packages available for visiting groups. You will be aware, for example, that two of the YHA’s Adventure Activity Centres are located in the Peak District reasonably close to Barnsley – YHA Edale and YHA Crowden, both of which are AALA licensed for adventure activities.
This information session at Longcar PDC provides an opportunity for staff from schools and other educational settings to come along and find out more about the YHA and the opportunities provided for Barnsley schools.
The session will be provided by Michael Sabin, the YHA’s National Groups Adviser who will be able to answer any questions you may have.
If you wish to attend this session, please contact Michael Sabin direct on Tel: 01629 592705 Email: email@example.com or alternatively, please feel free to simply drop in on the day.
